Shrimp producers
who marketed shrimp in Louisiana during 2003 have until April
11 to enroll in the TAA program at their local USDA Farm Service
Agency office. In addition to making the initial application and
meeting certain criteria, producers also must attend mandated
training to become fully eligible to receive cash benefits.
This technical
assistance training is offered by the LSU AgCenter at no cost
to producers. All interested shrimp producers are encouraged to
attend, even if they have not yet completed the initial application
with the Farm Service Agency.
In addition,
producers who have applied under the TAA program in surrounding
states can attend one of the Louisiana meetings to satisfy training
requirements.
A producer
needs to attend only one of the three-hour training meetings to
fulfill the training requirements of the TAA program.
