Named to NGI Advisory Council

– Louisiana Sea Grant College Program Executive Director
Charles Wilson has been named to the Northern Gulf Institute (NGI)
Advisory Council.
Partnering with five
academic institutions and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA), the institute is a collaboration led by
Mississippi State University that includes the University of Southern
Mississippi, Louisiana State University, Florida State University
and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. NGI’s mission is to conduct
high-impact research and education programs that contribute to
the recovery and future health, safety, resilience and productivity
of the region.
Since its establishment
in 1968, Louisiana Sea Grant has worked to promote stewardship
of the state’s coastal resources through a combination of
research, education and outreach programs critical to the cultural,
economic and environmental health of Louisiana’s coastal
zone. Louisiana Sea Grant, based at LSU, is part of the National
Sea Grant Program, a network of 32 university-based programs in
each of the U.S. coastal and Great Lakes states and Puerto Rico.
Wilson also serves
as vice provost at LSU.
