LSU Researchers Looking into the Impact of Flood Insurance in Denham Springs
November 15, 2010
BATON ROUGE – Researchers from the LSU Disaster Science & Management Program in the Department of Geography & Anthropology will be in Denham Springs Nov. 19-20 to investigate the impacts of flood insurance on local residents.
Residents in selected neighborhoods will receive a mail-in survey with questions on their experience with flood insurance and flood map changes. Some residents may encounter researchers at local supermarkets or churches and might be asked to participate in a brief interview where they can share their thoughts and feelings on flood insurance. Every participant will be rewarded with a smile and a little surprise.
This two-year study is funded by Louisiana Sea Grant and approved by LSU’s Institutional Review Board. For more information, visit http://dsm.lsu.edu or contact Melanie Gall, LSU assistant professor, at gallm@lsu.edu or 803-979-2734.
