John-SupanThe World is Your Oyster: The Life Cycle and Future of Louisiana’s Most Beloved Bivalve

Louisiana is the top producer of oysters in the U.S. Director of the Sea Grant Oyster Research Lab John Supan presents on his lab’s work, where 500 million oyster larvae are spawned each year, as well as the importance of hatcheries. He will share tips on how to enjoy oysters year-round, and his work developing a new breed of fatter, more profitable oysters.

The LSU Science Cafés are events sponsored by the LSU Office of Research & Economic Development that take place at Chelseas Cafe  (2857 Perkins Rd., Baton Rouge) on the last Tuesday of each month from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
