Have you thought about how we understand and commemorate natural disasters like the 2016 Louisiana Floods? Are you interested in some of the new ways that students in LA and beyond are learning about what our coast gives us and what we stand to lose with continued land loss? Then please join us for the first Science on the Bayou of 2018 as we focus on intersections of the environment and society at the Lafayette Science Museum.

“Measuring Crisis: Oral History and the 2016 Floods,” Dr. Liz Skilton, Assistant Professor, J.J. Burdin M.D. and Helen B. Burdin/Board of Regents Endowed Professorship in Louisiana Studies, UL Lafayette History Department

“Coastal Lessons: To Save the Coast We Need to Know the Coast,” Dr.Heather Stone, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Educational Curriculum & Instruction, University of Louisiana at Lafayette

We’re excited to be back at the Lafayette Science Museum, so feel free to bring the whole family! The Jefferson Street Pub will have beverages available for purchase (cash preferred), so come a little early and stick around for the talks beginning at 7. Enter the museum auditorium from the back doors on E. Congress St. (facing Parc San Souci).
