4th Presidents’ Forum on Meeting Coastal Challenges

Insurability of the Coast

June 16, 2008 Forum:

The Fourth Presidents’ Forum focused on the insurability of the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, and welcomed new partners into the lecture series. Held in New Orleans, Forum topics included flood insurance, reinsurance, floodplain mapping, public and private insurance providers, and comprehensive planning as it relates to natural hazards.

New partners for the fourth Forum included the Louisiana Department of Insurance and the America’s Wetland Foundation. Among those addressing Forum participants was Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon and insurance officials from other coastal states, including Commissioner Mike Chaney of Mississippi, Commissioner Kevin McCarty of Florida, Deputy Commissioner Billy Kenny of West Virginia, Deputy Commissioner David Parsons of Alabama, and Hector Cora Cadiz, Executive Aide to the Puerto Rico Insurance Commissioner.
