Student Bio

Martha Villalba is pursuing her master of science degree in biology – with a focus on herpetology and conservation biology – from the Department of Biological Sciences at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. She is studying how sea turtles react to the stress of being pulled into cooling water intake structures at power plants. After earning her master’s, she plans on pursuing a doctorate and to conduct her own research as a sea turtle biologist.
