Charting a Course: Neptune Pass
June 29–30, 2026 | Buras, Louisiana
Complimentary lodging, meals, and activities
Participation stipend available upon completion
Come explore the delta-making process in real life at one of Louisiana’s newest landforms—Neptune Pass. Originally a small outlet of the river, the highwater flooding from 2019, rapidly transformed this canal. It has more than quadrupled in size in the last 10 years and now carries out 16% of the Mississippi’s River’s flow to adjacent wetlands. This trip will allow you to see Louisiana wetland dynamics up close and personal. This is a very unique opportunity to share with your students, as this place is not easily accessible.
