Cameron Direct Seafood Meeting April 3
Commercial fishermen interested in learning about marketing their catch directly to the public via the internet are invited to attend one of two meetings about the newly created Cameron Direct Seafood project.
The Louisiana Sea Grant and LSU AgCenter-sponsored meetings will be held April 3. The first will be at 10 a.m. at the Hackberry Community Center, 986 Main St., Hackberry. The second meeting will be at 3 p.m. at the LSU AgCenter Office, 7101 Gulf Highway, Lake Charles.
Cameron Direct is a spin-off of the successful Delcambre Direct Seafood project that has allowed more local seafood to be sold directly to consumers in the Lafayette area. Interested fishermen and wholesalers/retailers who participate in the program will be featured on the Cameron Direct website, which will include contact information, products available and other information. The website will be advertised throughout the region in newspapers, magazines, on TV, radio and through social networking sites.
