Research

Core research projects address four issues identified as especially pertinent to state, regional, and national needs: Healthy Ecosystems and Habitats; Resilient Communities and Economics; Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture; and Education and Workforce Development.

Program development projects address issues such as environmental crises and allow scientists to pursue unanticipated research discoveries or expand an existing project beyond Sea Grant’s normal two-year research fiscal cycle. Through special research initiatives, scientists throughout the Sea Grant network address coastal and marine priorities of national economic and ecological significance.
