She is originally from Cecilia but put down root in Baton Rouge after attending Louisiana State University. She earned her bachelor of science and master of science degrees in biological sciences and natural sciences at LSU. Bankester said she can’t wait to use her experience to help students learn and discover the world around them.

“Louisiana’s natural resources can inspire lessons in everything from math and science to history and language arts, and I love the idea of helping students see their own backyard as a place for exploration and learning.” Bankester said.

She is looking forward to meeting people from across Louisiana, whether they’re new coworkers, educators or children experiencing Ocean Commotion. “Everyone brings their own knowledge and perspective to the table, and I’m excited to learn from them while working together toward a stronger, more resilient Louisiana.” Bankester said.
