Patout New St. Mary Extension Agent

Iberia Parish native Guy “Micah” Patout is the new marine extension agent for Louisiana Sea Grant and the LSU AgCenter in St. Mary Parish.

Patout earned a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and has experience in wetland ecology, conservation and agriculture. Prior to joining LSU, he worked as a wetland ecologist, conducting environmental monitoring across various habitats throughout the state, vegetation surveys, coastal restoration and drone operations. Through his work with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resource Conservation Service and family farming operations, he also has broad agriculture and land management experience.

“I’m looking forward to starting the next chapter in my professional life with Sea Grant and the AgCenter,” said Patout. “I have a passion about conserving our state’s unique coastal ecosystems, fisheries and wildlife.”
