Teacher Professional Development

Louisiana Sea Grant strives to provide quality educational resources and programs for teachers and students throughout the state. These programs aim to immerse participants with the environment and ways to protect plus steward it. Teachers and students build awareness about environmental initiatives that they can bring back to their schools and communities. Participants become one with the scientific process, and activities are aligned with Louisiana State Standards. These workshops seek to survey teachers about current issues that they would like to engage with and introduce community partners. The goal of Louisiana Sea Grant is to build a stronger relationship between the environment and the people of Louisiana.

  • The Water Connects Us All – Louisiana Sea Grant is seeking 10 educators and their students to participate in a unique and impactful project aimed at creating sustainable, community connected learning experiences for classrooms across South Louisiana.

  • Summer Workshops – Join the Pontchartrain Conservancy’s Education Department in a series of workshops for middle and high school science educators that will provide hands-on experience with a variety of environmental topics and minikits for use with your students.

  • Changing Course: The River, The Science, The People – Calling all educators! Join a three-day journey of exploration along the Mississippi River in Pointe Coupee Parish.

  • Charting a Course: Neptune Pass – Come explore the delta-making process in real life at one of Louisiana’s newest landforms—Neptune Pass.
