Julie Lively
Associate Professor & Fisheries Specialist
LSU AgCenter & Louisiana Sea Grant

The Louisiana blue crab industry currently yields about $60 million in dockside sales per year. Lively is a blue crab expert. Her research includes developing a new, lower cost blue crab bait from shrimp waste as an alternative to Atlantic menhaden shipped from the East Coast. She also studies diseases and parasites that affect the blue crab population. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Delaware.
