Current Certified BRDs
Currently, there are five certified BRDs for use in the Gulf of Mexico — Fisheye, Jones-Davis, Modifies Jones-Davis, Cone Fish Deflector Composite Panel, Square Mesh Panel Composite Panel.
In federal waters, each net that is rigged for shrimp fishing must have one BRD from the above certified list installed (see 50 CFR 622.53 for exemptions). Outside of federal waters, regulations differ by state (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida).
