About OSAP

In 2015, the Louisiana Sea Grant College Program was able to fund the Ocean Science Assistantship Program (OSAP) with generous support from Shell. This program provides student support for two years of Master’s-level research relevant to environmental, social, and economic issues associated with oil and gas activities in deep-water environments (shelf ecosystems). See: www.laseagrant.org/2014/shell-funding/ for further information on this opportunity.

LSG partnered with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) for the OSAP program.  This partnership is intended to provide the participating students an opportunity to gain internship experience related to their research projects that are also aligned with LDWF’s research and workforce needs. This partnership will allow OSAP students to be exposed to state management activities and provides a potential avenue for recruitment of new LDWF personnel.
